I am a qualified counsellor having completed a degree in Integrative Humanistic counselling combining approaches such as Person Centred, Gestalt and Existential.
I also incorporate elements of CBT within my approach should I feel this would benefit you. Information regarding these approaches can be found here. The main goal of this approach is to find out how a person perceives themselves here and now and to recognise growth, self-direction and responsibilities. This method is optimistic and attempts to help individuals recognise their strengths by offering a non-judgemental, understanding experience.
In order to increase my knowledge and understanding I regularly attend Continual Professional Development workshops and lectures. The following are just a few I have attended:
I am a member of The National Counselling Society and abide by their code of Ethics. I am also listed in the Counselling Directory for professional counsellors.
In addition to my private practice, I also worked within the NHS and the Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre in Guildford. I have experience in working with substance misuse, in particular drugs and alcohol along with a variety of issues ranging from anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties and bereavement and loss. I also have experience working with severe trauma, abuse, personality disorders, dissociative identify disorder and eating problems.
As an ethical practitioner I receive regular clinical supervision with a professional supervisor, who also adheres to codes of ethics in relation to client confidentiality. The supervision helps to support me in maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and expertise in my work with you.
My practice is conveniently located in the High Street, Walton on Thames close to Hersham, Cobham, Weybridge, Esher, Shepperton and Sunbury on Thames. There is ample parking nearby.
